WGT 2023
We were buzzin to make our first appearance at Leipzig’s legendary WGT in May. Between this, the fringe events, and the wonderful Gothic Pogo festival, the whole city is totally rammed with people and events. In sharing a stage with the mighty Violets, we actually got the chance to partially recreate a gig from 40-odd years prior, which was a lot of fun. Rio actually whipped out a Ukraine football shirt for the finale. It went down well, but there was something novel about standing there in bright yellow in a sea of black!
Aside from the music, we stayed in a B&B managed by the legendary FC Lokomotive Leipzig and the coach was more than happy to tell us about their history over a shitload of pilsner on our first night. We also loaned Chameleons a few bits of gear after they’d had a nightmare with various airlines, meaning we got to hang out at the mainstage the next day and nab their posh catering. Not a bad effort! x
